Dianne’s primary assignment is service as the Florida SBDC Network’s Director of Marketing. Having taught Marketing in the College of Business for over 18 years and served as a marketer, she is a natural for the position. She is involved with Network advocacy, outreach and planning, along with creating outstanding publications, advertising and copywriting. Although charged with generating revenue for the SDO, she spends her time primarily with oversight, development and editing. Beyond the omnipresent Marketing Plan and marketing initiatives, her leadership has guaranteed the SBDC Network can boast a consistent brand and brand image throughout the Florida network. Following the successful Strategic Plan of 2005, Barlar was asked to coordinate development of the plan for 2008-2012 and the retreat that took place in Orlando. Among her many accomplishments, Barlar was president of the FWB Chamber in 2001; received the Distinguished Teaching Award over four times while at UWF; was named the prestigious UWF Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2002; was inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame in 2003; and was selected by the SBA to represent the Southeastern Region as the Women’s Advocate for the SBA in 2003. Her service on profit and non-profit boards in the Northwestern region is noteworthy. However, she has served on the Workforce Board for Region 2 for over ten years, since its inception.
